Electronic Arts won't release any sort of roster updates or new player data for its latest NBA Jam basketball game.

EA's basketball franchise has seen some major shakeups last year, when the scheduled full-pledged iteration, NBA Elite 11, was axed just as it was getting ready to be released.

In order to keep it present in the genre, EA pushed its arcade remake, NBA Jam, onto high definition consoles with new features, as opposed to its Nintendo Wii version.

Now, seeing as how EA's only basketball game is NBA Jam, many fans were wondering if the company will release any sort of update to the roster of teams and players, in order to keep it relevant.

Sadly, that won't happen, with EA releasing a formal statement about any sort of updates for NBA Jam on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

"There have been a lot of questions about a title or roster update and we wanted to tackle this head on. Our priority for Jam on the Xbox 360 and PS3 was to deliver HD graphics and online play to round out the great gameplay that defines the franchise," EA revealed.

If the company included any sort of support for title or roster updates during its development, it would've severely impacted the overall product in terms of quality.

"For us to also include roster and title update possibilities, we would have sacrificed quality in those key areas and thus made the difficult decision not to include them," EA added.

As such, if you bought NBA Jam hoping that you'd see new players be added as DLC or at least some updates made to the state of the real teams in the NBA, you're out of luck.

On the other side of the basketball genre, 2K Sports has been supporting its full pledged NBA 2K11 release with fresh content and even support for 3D.
