Publisher 2K Sports and developer Visual Concepts have announced that NBA 2K13, the new basketball simulation from the company, has an official release date of October 2 in North America and October 5 in the rest of the world and will be offered on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Nintendo Wii, the PC and the PSP.

2K Games is also planning to launch a Wii U version of NBA 2K13 and a date for it will be made official when Nintendo reveals the exact launch window for its new hardware.

The publisher has also revealed that those gamers who pre-order NBA 2K13 will be able to get access to a new NBA All-Star content package that is created in collaboration with Sprite.

The DLC will be focused on the All-Star Game and will allow gamers to create their own version of the event, with three competitions integrated alongside the main match: the Foot Locker Three Point Shootout, BBVA Rising Stars Challenge and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

Initially, the rosters for the events included in the All-Star pack will feature the players who the NBA selected back in 2012 and an update will then also add the 2013 stars.

Jason Argent, who is the vice president of marketing for 2K Sports, stated, “The NBA All-Star package is our way saying ‘thank you’ to fans for their ongoing love of the NBA 2K series.”

He added, “This content provides a ton of depth and value to our fans, and it’s just the beginning of a lot of big news about NBA 2K13.”

NBA 2K13 has a big advantage in the basketball simulation field because EA Sports has not announced that it is working on a new NBA Elite title, after cancelling last year’s game over concerns linked to its quality.
