2K Sports has just deployed the first full pledged add-on for its NBA 2K12 basketball game, in the form of the Legends Showcase DLC, which is a major departure from the traditional, realistic gameplay of the simulator.
Through this new add-on, players will be able to engage in a variety of mini-games and pick-up matches with some of the greatest basketball players of all time, from Michael Jordan to Larry Bird or Magic Johnson. What’s more, they’ll be able to engage in these activities right in New York’s famous Times Square and enjoy an impressive cel-shaded visual style, reminiscent of Borderlands.
Among the mini-games included are classics like HORSE or 21, as well as special pick-up games ranging from 1-on-1 to 5-on-5, not to mention team challenges like 2-on-2 or 3-on-3.
Gamers can also unlock other NBA players to create unique match-ups between classic basketball stars and current ones, while also being able to bring their customized My Player creation into the mix.
NBA 2K12’s Legends Showcase DLC is now available for download on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, for $9.99 (9.99 Euros) or 800 MS Points, respectively. Until the download is complete, check out the trailer for the add-on above.
