An advanced double-DIN infotainment system from HS Networks

Whenever we're talking about GPS navigation systems, the first things that come to mind are those windshield-mounted PNDs. However, the truth of the matter is that there are quite a few alternative solutions out there, one of which has just been presented by the Korean company HS Networks, in the shape of the NAVIst III.

According to Navigadget, this double-DIN device allows users to do a whole lot more than simply find the shortest route to their home. This in-dash car infotainment system allows drivers to play games, listen to music, and watch both DVDs and digital TV programs. Moreover, it also incorporates an AM/FM radio, photo viewer, DivX player, Bluetooth module for streaming audio, but also a universal iPod cable and a USB interface, used for connecting flash drives or portable HDDs.

Plus, it delivers Dolby Pro-Logic and DTS surround sound, which means that, with the appropriate speakers installed, the car can really transform into one fast-moving multimedia center. All of the functions mentioned above are mitigated with the help of the dual AU 1250 600MHZ processors, which prove to be quite enough for the computational needs of this thing.

The NAVIst III is controlled via a 6.95-inch touch-screen TFT LCD, which provides an 800 x 400 pixel resolution and slides down to reveal a couple of drives hidden behind it. One of these is, quite obviously, a DVD drive, while the second one is a removable caddy that can be used for storing a 2.5-inch SATA hard-drive.

Unfortunately, the NAVIst III hasn't yet made it out of Korea, and that's because the manufacturer is still looking for resellers and distributors on the Western markets. We certainly hope that it'll actually manage to do so, because we're quite curious to see this thing in action first hand.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
