NASDAQ OMX, the world’s largest exchange company, will use FireEye’s Threat Prevention Platform to protect its systems against cyberattacks.

In addition, NASDAQ OMX will utilize the security firm’s Multi-Vector Virtual Execution (MVX) engine to mitigate web, email and file attacks.

“We are proud to have NASDAQ OMX as a customer. Any computer system is vulnerable to attack and protecting exchanges from online attack is a responsibility we take seriously,” noted FireEye CEO David DeWalt.

“Attacks on exchanges are very attractive to nation-states, cybercriminals and hacktivists. Our own experience shows that financial institutions are the third-most targeted industry worldwide.”

Brad Peterson, chief information officer at NASDAQ OMX, commented “Cyber security is a global concern and attackers never rest. Leveraging the FireEye Threat Prevention Platform for our own exchanges is a clear indication of our dedication to maintaining a resilient and robust cyber security program.”

FireEye went public recently, raising over $300 million (€222 million) from stock sales.
