Activision, as the publisher, and Eutechnyx, as the developer, have now put an end to rumors and officially announced that they are working on a new NASCAR video game which is set to arrive for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Nintendo Wii at some point during February 2011.

Eutechnyx has rebuilt the new NASCAR title from the ground up with the aim of delivering the best simulation of the racing sport ever seen.

The team started by consulting with fans of NASCAR and then went on to talk to teams, drivers and officials to get a feel about what was the most important elements they needed to see reflected in a video games.

The ultimate prize in the game is the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship, which gamers will can try to earn with all the drivers registered with a team.

All the opposing drivers will have strong Artificial Intelligence personalities that mimic the actions they perform in real life and the developers are also promising a complex damage system that allows for the most extreme crashes but also for small bumps designed to throw a car of the ideal line.

Blake Davidson, who is the managing director of licensed products at NASCAR, stated, “While NASCAR has enjoyed a rich history in video games, we really wanted to take the next generation of NASCAR games to a new level.”

He added, “By partnering directly with Eutechnyx, the leading driving game developer in the business, to create NASCAR The Game 2011, we are convinced NASCAR fans and gamers alike will be blown away by the result. With Activision as the publishing partner, we have the perfect combination to set the bar for all future NASCAR titles.”

Ed Martin, the executive vice president at developer Eutechnyx, also said, “It was crucial to take a fresh look at what makes the sport so popular. We're working very closely with NASCAR, the drivers, the teams, the tracks and the sponsors to get all the minute details right, and give this game the polish and push the fans deserve.”
