NASCAR 98 is a racing simulator video game published and developed by EA Sports and released on October 31, 1997 for the Sega Saturn, and on November 17, 1997 for the PlayStation. This was the first of the EA Sports NASCAR series, and is regarded as one of the best. The game's features include:
24 Winston Cup drivers 10 official NASCAR Winston Cup tracks and 6 fantasy road courses (Including the Suzuka road course used during the 1996-1998 NASCAR Exhibition races in
Japan) Commentary by Bob Jenkins Single race Championship season Interactive pit stop menu Custom car setups 24 car field "Southern rock" style soundtrack, including Molly Hatchet's Flirtin' with Disaster Included "paintball mode" cheat where cars could be spun out with multi-colored trajectory
Critics were generally pleased with NASCAR 98, praising the game's graphics, which were regarded as exceptional for its day. The game's cars' "fast and loose" handling was also well received. However, the game's soundtrack was regarded as "lame". (Wikipedia)
Codes
Misc. Codes Go to race statistics and then push and hold down R1 + R2 + L1 + L2 Push TRIANGLE to shoot paintballs in a race.
At the options screen press and hold ''circle'' then press Up, Left, Down, Right, a new option will appear at the bottom of the screen - Turbo Mode
Unlockables
EA Sports Car - This can only be done in Exhibition Mode. Go to Race Setup/Select Car screen and highlight Kenny Wallace Car. Hold X and press Up then Down.
Pinnacle Trading Cards Car - Highlight Bobby Labonte's car at the car selection screen in Exhibition mode, then hold X and press Up, Down.
Secrets
Faster Car Go into Car Setup screen. Put the pressure all the way up, wedge all the down, rear spoiler all the way down, and gear ratios all the way up.
