The black holes were hidden in the middle of several galaxies

One of NASA’s space telescopes was particularly proficient and discovered ten monster black holes.

According to the space agencies, the black holes were lurking in the heart of several distant galaxies.

These were all spotted as astronomers were reviewing images from NASA’s Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR), an X-ray telescope designed specifically to hunt for black holes, reports indicate.

The information was confirmed by comparing data with that obtained from NASA’s Chandra X-Ray Observatory and the European Space Agency’s XMM-Newton satellite.

Of course, more such black holes are expected to be detected in the near future as scientists try to better understand the Universe and possibly extend their knowledge on black holes as well.

“We are getting closer to solving a mystery that began in 1962. Back then, astronomers had noted a diffuse X-ray glow in the background of our sky but were unsure of its origin. Now, we know that distant supermassive black holes are sources of this light, but we need NuSTAR to help further detect and understand the black hole populations,” said David Alexander, a NuStar team member.
