Earlier this year, a Taurus-XL rocket was supposed to deliver a satellite developed by students and the Montana State University to Earth's orbit, but failed after launch. Now, a Delta II delivery system will launch a twin to the first satellite. Takeoff is scheduled to occur this Friday, October 28.

Launch will occur between 3:48 and 3:57 am MST (1048 and 1057 GMT), from the Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), in Santa Maria, California, SpaceRef reports. The VAFB and the MSU Space Operations Center will allow students to watch their spacecraft soar to the sky.

“MSU's SSEL has the unique distinction of being the only university to fly a CubeSat on both of NASA's Educational Launch of Nanosatellite (ELaNa) missions. No other university in the world has flown university-built small satellites on two NASA orbital launches,” MSU's Space Science and Engineering Laboratory director Dave Klumpar says.
