NASA is seeking to sell out the space shuttle launchpad and two competing space travel companies seem to be interested in the goods.

NASA intends to sell most of the terminated space shuttle program’s infrastructure to individual space exploration companies, after the Kennedy Space Center remained deserted following the final launch of the Atlantis shuttle two years ago.

Since there’s no launch scheduled for the next four years, NASA wants to lease or sell the facilities in its portfolio.

“At this point NASA is looking to gauge interest for potential use of the platforms and concepts for potential use,” a NASA spokesperson said recently.

For the next couple of week, the space agency will continue accepting proposals for the launchpads before making a decision about what it will do with them and who will hold ownership.
