NASA will investigate the reasons that caused the leak of water in the astronaut’s suit performing a spacewalk near the International Space Station.

Luca Parmitano was doing a scheduled spacewalk when he noticed a gathering of water inside his helmet, EuropaPress reports.

Due to the potentially hazardous situation, the mission was aborted a mere hour after it started.

The crew simply followed procedure, the space agency explained. They also addressed concerns that the situation had put Parmitano’s life in danger by saying the incident was not that grave.

NASA states that their specialists are not sure about what caused the appearance of water in the astronaut’s helmet, since the situation has no precedent.

Parmitanno and his American partner on the ISS, Chris Cassidy, were trying to install a power equipment and to prepare the cables for the new laboratory module set to arrive in the coming months.
