On June 25, President Obama delivered a speech at Georgetown University and detailed his plans to combat climate change and global warming. Al Gore was deeply moved by the President's speech, and so was Charles Bolden, NASA's current chief.

Yesterday, the latter published a post and explained that NASA not only fully approves of the US President's climate action plan, but also wants to help Barack Obama protect the planet against the threats it is currently facing.

“Having looked back at Earth from outer space, I have seen just how fragile our home planet is – and I’m committed to doing everything I can to help protect it,” Charles Bolden wrote.

NASA will lend President Obama a helping hand in moving forward with his climate action plant by means of its Earth Science program.

Commenting on the importance of this collaboration, NASA's chief argued as follows:

“Scientific data and insights are essential to help government officials, communities, and businesses better understand and manage the risks associated with climate change.”

Furthermore, “NASA will continue to work with the Administration as we continue to lead in advancing the science of climate measurement and adaptation and the development of tools for climate-relevant decision-making by focusing on increasing the availability, accessibility, and utility of relevant scientific tools and information.”

Charles Bolden is confident that this climate action plan will benefit not just the planet, but also human society. He says that the plan will improve lives and will help strengthen the economy.
