After two months of growth, things are sliding back a bit

NAND Flash chips are used in memory cards, flash drive, embedded storage chips, solid-state drives and lots of other things.

That's why they've been selling like crazy for years, and why their prices grew almost constantly during May and June 2013.

Now, though, contract prices are going down, or at least went down during the second half of July.

System OEMs have been suffering from rising stockpiles, caused by over-booking of orders.

There was a shortage of NAND chips in early 2013, you see, and when OEMs tried to be foresighted and order more during the following months (just in case shortages happened again), it came back to bit them in the rear.

It doesn't help that some notebook, tablet and smarpthone companies expect weaker sales.

Anyway, during 2H July 2013, NAND prices fell 6-9%.
