2012's first couple of weeks have passed so, naturally, market watchers looked at what has been happening on the NAND Flash storage market.

Apparently, product vendors decided to wait until after the Chinese New Year before committing to more orders.

That allows NAND Flash chip prices to fall slightly, or so Digitimes reports.

16 Gb MLC chips sold for the same $2.48 on average in early January (1.93 Euro), while 32 Gb and 64 Gb chips went down 3% and 6%, respectively ($3.38/ 2.63 Euro and $5.71/ 4.45 Euro).

Moving forward, sales of NAND Flash chips should grow for a while, as more smartphones appear.

Ultrabooks and tablets are expected to fuel the continued adoption of SSDs and memory cards as well, so there may or may not be further price cuts later down the line.
