Because of low demand, price cuts are the way to go at this point

Hearing that a price cut is inbound is always good news, but when price cuts are about to be applied to NAND Flash chips, the news is all the better, like now.

I say this because NAND chips are what flash drives, memory cards and solid-state drives are made of, and the storage type used in phones, tablets and gadgets in general.

So a price cut for NAND means cheaper storage devices all around.

According to DRAMeXchange, via a report by Digitimes, demand is rather slow and isn't expected to pick up in the near future.

So even if contract prices stayed flat during the first half of October, this will change soon. Global NAND flash supply bit growth might even slow down to 7.8% this quarter (Q4 2013), then to 5.9% in 1Q14.
