I'm sure many people were expecting the N95. Or maybe even the E65 or E61i. But I'm almost sure that very few people were expecting the release of this new mobile phone that Nokia has decided to unveil.

Nokia introduces a trimmer fold model to its Nokia Nseries line up, the Nokia N76, a new multimedia computer that intends to attract with its design Motorola RAZR's fans. According to Nokia, this N-series mobile phone was designed in order to provide a smartphone with a sleeker body and little compromise when it comes to the features it includes.

"We did not want to compromise any of the key Nokia Nseries experiences when we designed the stylish Nokia N76 multimedia computer," said Pekka Pohjakallio, vice-president, Multimedia, Nokia. He continued, "Nokia Nseries consumers are bleeding edge technology users and with them in mind we want to offer intelligent and entertaining multimedia functionality in an easy to use, ultra slim package."

The phone also targets music enthusiasts, among other types of users, featuring dedicated music control keys and support for standard 3.5 mm headphones.

It also comes with a Nokia Web Browser with MiniMap and easy access to popular services such as Flickr or Amazon, a 2 megapixel camera with up to 20x digital zoom and LED flash, MicroSD memory card slot that allows up to 2GB memory cards and the S60 3rd Edition Symbian OS Nokia smartphone users have grown very accustomed to lately.

The quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz mobile phone comes equipped with a 2.4 inch 16 million color screen with a QVGA resolution, Bluetooth for connectivity and promises to be a pretty good all-in-one mobile phone in a slimmer, more stylish case.

It measures 106 x 52 x 13.7 mm and weighs 115grams, so it's not as bulky as other phones of this type. While the phones features are promising - as said before - the price is not as 'user-friendly' as on would expect. So expect the N76 to start shipping during the first quarter of 2007 with an estimated pre-tax, unsubsidized price of approximately 390 euros.
