Cyndi Lauper remains one of the most impeccably styled stars whenever she goes out in public, but this was certainly not the case, as she arrived at LAX, with a makeup-free and very sore-looking face.

As E! Online puts it, sometimes girls don’t just wanna have fun, but rather have an invisibility cloak that could protect them from the ever-intrusive paparazzi.

The singer arrived at the airport and, before she could notice it, the paps had already snapped her picture and it was all over the Internet, together with lots of speculation as to what may have happened to her face.

As one can easily note, this was definitely not one of Cyndi’s best days, as her entire face seemed covered in a red rash that looked incredibly painful as well.

The moment the photo got out, rumors were running rampant as to what happened to cause the redness and the irritation: some said plastic surgery, others chemical peel, while fewer believed it was some sort of allergic reaction.

Chemical peels usually end in rashes and red spots that can last up to a few days, until the skin regenerates, so this seemed like the most plausible theory.

In the end, though, it turns out the last variant was the right one, as the star’s rep confirms for E!. There’s really nothing to worry about.

“She’ll be fine, she was in town meeting with Mark Burnett folks and unfortunately had a bad reaction to a spa treatment while relaxing after the meeting,” the publicist explains.

“The rep went on to explain that the painful-looking redness was nothing to be alarmed about, and simply the result of ‘a bad reaction to a facial’ for the allergy-prone Lauper,” E! further notes.

In other words, it should go away in a matter of days and Cyndi will be back to her usual glamorous and funky self.
