Professor Mark Post, i.e. the brains behind the world's first test-tube burger, has recently announced that the time has come for his creation to be eaten.

On August 5, a mystery diner in London, whose identity will be revealed just before the event, will get the chance to feast on the first-of-its-kind burger, The Telegraph reports.

It is possible that the burger will be cooked by a celebrity chef, Mark Post says.

As previously reported, this test-tube burger was grown inside a laboratory from stem cells.

The cells were used to create some 3,000 strands of artificial muscle tissue that eventually came to form a burger.

The scientists who worked on this project expect that, as climate change and global warming continue to impact on global agriculture, artificial meat will start gaining popularity.

When this happens, odds are their test-tube burgers will be highly sought after.
