Dead Mountaineer's Hotel is a "shocking, sci-fi" adventure title announced by Akella back in October 2004. Now, the game is finally close to reach the gold status and be distributed to everybody who loves quality adventures and mystery solving. North America and the Central and Northen Europe will receive this game from Lighthouse Interactive, following the agreement between the two companies. Dead Mountaineer's Hotel is scheduled to be released in the third quarter of 2008.

"Players are in for a real treat! Dead Mountaineer's Hotel is a great addition to our first-rate Adventure game catalog," said Erik Schreuder, CEO of Lighthouse Interactive. "The game looks incredible. There is such close attention to detail that you feel completely immersed in the game world. We are looking forward to bringing the game to English speaking Adventure communities across North America and Europe."

Of course, in adventure titles graphics are not as important as the adventure itself, so let's check out this game's story. You will be a police detective that travels through a snowy mountain when an avalanche messes up your plans, so you will have to go and seek shelter at a nearby inn - Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Your peaceful stay will be disrupted by a bizarre murder and, of course, since you have the spirit of a real detective, you'll start an investigation. With every guest in the hotel considered a suspect and a bunch of mystical events screwing up your investigation, you will have to find out the only person responsible for the horrible murder at Dead Mountaineer's Hotel.

Unfortunately, the game only comes with 15 characters (hopefully these are only the main ones) but it compensates with the fact that it has 5 different endings based on the player's decisions, behavior and actions. A new and interesting promise comes from the developers, who created the game's world using a full 3D engine that allows a truly non-linear gameplay while providing some of the best graphics in an adventure game so far.
