The anonymous eccentric tipper calls himself “TipsForJesus”

Anonymous good Samaritan calling himself “TipsForJesus” left a trail of insane tips all over bars and restaurants in the United States. He surprised waiters and waitresses with tips ranging from $500 (€368) to $10,000 (€7,370) spending the crazy amount of $54,000 (€39,793) just on servers.

The extremely generous guy prefers his identity to be hidden and promotes his cause with an Instagram page where he posts pictures of the recipes that state the servers' tips. The man has been posting photos since September with both happy servers and five-figure gratuities.

At a first glance, the servers believed to be the subject of a joke, but the do-gooder assured them everything was legit. It is hard to believe someone would leave a five-digit tip, when many don't even leave a gratuity to begin with.

One of TipsForJesus's lucky servers was Robbie Schulz, co-owner of a bar in Ann Arbor, who received the crazy amount of $7,000 (€5,159) for a $215 (€158) bar tab. Schulz posted a picture with the receipt showing the amount and commenting that it is as real as it gets.

Schulz said that the generous crew came into the bar at around 1:45 am after other bars refused service because of the late hour. When the man thanked him and hinted that a big tip is going to be left for the staff's service, Robbie imagined something less than $100 and not the amazing $7,000.

According to some of the lucky servers to have met TipsForJesus, he is actually accompanied by a crew wandering around bars and restaurants, very friendly, polite and nice. Their tastes are also quite expensive with tabs reaching as much as $12,000 (€8,844), paid with a black AMEX card that is only received by invitation for those whose assets and income are at least a few millions, according to Daily Mail.

In Indiana, the Good Samaritan left a tip worth $10,000 on two receipts, that wasn't cleared because of fraud concerns. When one of the servers noted that the tip didn't go through, TipsForJesus posted a photo of his AMEX statement showing that the amount was actually charged and added “nobody is going to ruin the good we're trying to do,” telling the server he will help him get the money.
