The new slate should not be confused to the model that got its Bluetooth SIG certification

Just yesterday we brought you news that a new Huawei tablet code-named “S10-232-UA” has been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website. We hypothesized the new slate might be the next-generation MediaPad 10, but apparently Huawei has another tablet model in the works and will not focus only on the above-mentioned product.

A new tablet produced by the Chinese company, bearing the code-name T-101 has been spotted going through the FCC, and it must be noted this is not the same device as the previously mentioned “S10-232-UA”.

The elusive slate appears to have a completely different design. The MediaPad 10 models available on the market today usually have an aluminum cove / silver band with a white plastic where the Wi-Fi and 3G reception modules are housed.

However, the photos that have shown up at the FCC show the mysterious Huawei T-101 sporting a dark gray frame (at this point we can’t tell whether it’s made of polycarbonate or something else) with two strips of black plastic at the side of the tablet.

In the pictures, one can spot an audio jack, micro USB port, micro HDMI, microSD card slot (with integrated microSIM), speakers and a camera. The latter will have a status LED that can provide illumination when needed, as long as the sensor is active.

We also know the mystery Huawei T-101 will come sporting a 2.4GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth and 3G. Judging by the FCC documents, we should see a pretty impressive 7000 mAh battery being embedded into the tablet, which will provide a sensible life-span to the machine.

As for the operating system that will run on the tablet, we have no indication whether is going to be Android (4.2 probably) or Windows 8.

With Huawei expected to hold a press conference on January 6, just a day before the kick-start of CES 2014 in Las Vegas, we could be able to take a glance at the T-101 tablet as soon as next month. If not, it might show up at the MWC 2014.
