14 DAY TRIAL // Mya's name hasn't been in the news for quite some time, but when she came back to the public's attention recently, she did it for all the wrong reasons. The singer was widely rumored to be Jay Z's woman on the side in his marriage to Beyonce.
After Jay Z and Beyonce had the famous elevator incident and rumors of their impending divorce ran rife, the press and the fans began trying to pair the rapper with all sorts of women, to find out with whom he had been cheating on Beyonce. Mya's name was among the first on the list.
Last week, Mya was forced to break her silence on the matter and spoke out, trying to set the record straight. She was adamant that no indecent relationship took place between her and Jay Z, because she was a married woman and she respected herself and her marriage too much to even consider cheating.
Now it's being reported that the beautiful 34-year-old singer is receiving death threats from overzealous fans and they are wreaking havoc with her previously peaceful existence. Her manager spoke to NY Daily News and revealed that things turned ridiculous when they escalated from a rumor to full-on death threats.
“At first it was just ridiculous, but then some die-hard fans start making threats. She really couldn't care less about the rumors, but she wanted to set the record straight when the after-effects started to become troublesome,” said the manager.
For her part, Mya was very clear on her supposed relationship with Jay Z. “Never did, never was, never will. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage way too much for nonsense,” she said.
The story was first reported by celebrity websites as a blind item, but their play with words is now complicating Mya's life. The fact that Beyonce dropped some not-so-subtle hints during a performance in concert last week did nothing but add more fuel to the fire and the entire cheating scandal.
Instead of singing the lyrics “been riding with you for six years,” as they were in the original song about a woman being cheated, Beyonce sang “been riding with you for 12 years,” which is exactly how long she's been involved with Jay Z.
However, this weekend, her social media was filled with photos of her and Jay, together with baby Blue Ivy, posing as a happy family enjoying some quality time together.
