MySpace, the leading social portal in the world, announced today the launch of a new optimized and more integrated mobile Website that would become available this week for its 20 million worldwide members. At the same time, MySpace also revealed plans to develop new applications for Nokia on the S60 web runtime environment, and for Palm’s fresh webOS.

MySpace aims at enhancing its leadership in the mobile area as the only social network that delivers applications working with all the smartphone platforms available on the market: iPhone, Google Android, Sidekick, Nokia, Palm and BlackBerry.

“We want our users to be able to access MySpace from any device,” said John Faith, vice president and general manager of MySpace Mobile. "We are committed to building apps for platforms we feel are groundbreaking to offer our users the best possible on-the-go MySpace experience.”

MySpace will launch this week the updated version of its MySpace Mobile Website, which will leverage the look and feel of MySpace on mobile handsets. There will be new user interface elements, which have been optimized to fit the devices' screens, as well as the “MySpace blue” color scheme and the possibility to customize email photo upload. The new website will support 13 languages and is localized for 29 countries.

There will also be a number of applications MySpace plans to integrate for both Palm’s new webOS and Nokia in their S60 web runtime environment. The company also announced its support for the Symbian Foundation, as MySpace will join the association for the development of socially relevant context for those that use the platform.

As stated above, MySpace has 20 million unique users all around the globe on mobile and Web applications, as well as more than 7 billion page views. MySpace’s CEO and co-founder, Chris DeWolfe, will present a keynote at the Mobile World Congress on Thursday, February 19.
