The original Sugababes have finally put aside all the differences that made it impossible for them to work together in the past, and are even considering a reunion, complete with a new look, a new name and, of course, a new sound. Mutya Buena, the second to leave the band in 2005, is said to be working hard towards a reunion, taking advantage of the fact that the current Sugababes have nothing to do with the band that broke on the scene in 1998, The Sun reports.

Buena’s divergences with the other two members of the band, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy, and later on with Heidi Range, who came to replace Siobhan in 2001, are well known, having been tabloid fodder for quite some time. Still, sources close to her and Keisha and Siobhan claim they only stemmed from the fact that all three were young, inexperienced, lacking patience and not quite sure how to cope with so much fame and attention.

Now that the Sugababes have nothing to do with the original lineup after Keisha was pushed out a short while ago, Buena is thinking of giving it another go. The three have already met a few times and are friends again, so this is just the first step – and the most important – towards working together again, friends say for the aforementioned publication. “I suppose now there’s no original Sugababes left we should just all reform again.” Mutya herself has said during a recent televised interview.

“She met up with Mutya for the first time in ages over the summer and they got on well.” one of Siobhan’s friends tells The Sun. “Now Mutya is convinced the original three could be huge again. She was on the phone all last weekend trying to convince the girls to reform. Siobhan’s considering it.” the tipster reveals. Another one assures The Sun – and fans – that Keisha too is giving the reunion some serious thought, even though she’s now working on her solo career.

“Mutya is very keen to do this. Keisha has her solo career on the go – including recording with new star Jay Sean – but she feels more comfortable as part of a band.” Keisha’s friend adds. Should this prove to be accurate, the reformed band will probably issue a statement soon about it, so make sure you keep an eye on this space for when that happens.
