Version 3.7.4 of Mutter, a window and compositing manager that displays and manages your desktop via OpenGL, is now available for download and testing.

Mutter 3.7.4 is part of the upcoming 3.7.4 desktop environment, a development release of the famous desktop environment, which, in time, will become GNOME 3.8.

Among the highlights of Mutter 3.7.4, we can mention support for bypass compositor hints, the automaximization was made optional, a new method that checks if the app is responding or not, the xinput opcode has been exposed, the “minimize” button has been renamed to “hide.”

There are also some updated translations and bugs fixed in this development release of Mutter. A complete list of all the changes can be viewed in the raw changelog.

Download Mutter 3.7.4 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
