Have you ever felt the urge to play Pac-Man on a larger than life scale? Ever dreamed about what it would be like to use Foursquare as your own personal playground, direct a Bing Jovi concert or edit an anime? Now you can. It’s really not fair to refer to four projects celebrating the latest iteration of Internet Explorer as websites, since they are innovative, immersive web experiences.

Just grab Internet Explorer 9 and give Foursquare Playground, SVG Girl, World’s Biggest PAC-MAN and Bon Jovi’s Directors Cut a try.

And while you’re at it, why stop at IE9 RTW? IE10 Platform Preview 1 is also available for download (hint: its core is better than IE9).

Foursquare Playground does exactly what the label promises, and as of MIX 11 the project unveiled back in mid-March 2011, was enhanced with new features.

"We love foursquare Playground because it combines our API with interesting new technologies like HTML5 and IE9 to extend foursquare to the desktop and deliver beautiful visualizations of where users are gathering," noted Holger Luedorf, VP of Mobile and Partnerships for foursquare.

"We are excited to uncover new features in the experience, including an 'Add venue' function and photo sharing."

I’m a huge anime fan, so SVG Girl became very close to my heart, very fast. As is the case with the project revealed above, the name pretty much says everything about the focus of SVG girl.

Heavy use of Scalable Vector Graphics delivers an intense web experience which users can customize to their liking.

Now, the World’s Biggest PAC-MAN project is in a Cloud games league of its own. Built with IE9 in mind, World’s Biggest PAC-MAN is still Pac-Man, but on a cocktail of modern web standards steroids.

“PAC-MAN, NAMCO BANDAI's most beloved video game character has not only been introduced to new genres over the last three decades but has expanded to almost every platform, including the browser. Using Canvas, WOFF, < audio >, and CPU accelerated JavaScript, we’ve created a stage for the world’s biggest PAC-MAN; and the features in Internet Explorer 9 bring it all to life,” said Carlson Choi, Vice President of NAMCO BANDAI Games America for Softpedia.

Bon Jovi fans, but also users that want to see what’s it like to direct a concert need to try the Bon Jovi’s Directors Cut project. Devs looking to being something similar need to know that Bon Jovi’s Directors Cut uses inline SVG and hardware accelerated canvas.

Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) Platform Preview 1 (PP1) is available for download here.

Windows Internet Explorer 9 RTW for Windows 7 and Windows 7 SP1 is available for download here.
