Despite its many flaws, Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby,” which came out earlier this year, was a visually stunning affair. The video above is a special effects reel meant to help you understand how it was all made possible.

Check it out.

Courtesy of VFX supervisor Chris Godfrey, the reel shows how green and blue screens were used in many an essential scene in the movie, allowing for many impressive details to be added later in post-production.

That “The Great Gatsby” made ample use of CGI was probably not a secret to anyone who’s seen it – but now, with this VFX reel, we get to see exactly how it was done.

“The Great Gatsby” stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, and Isla Fisher. Lana del Rey’s track heard in the video above is just one of the many extraordinary songs included on the OST.
