If you’re a true movie buff, you must at least see the video below, which includes footage from never before seen audition tapes with some of the biggest names in the industry today. The tapes will soon go under the hammer.

Since chances are you don’t have thousands of dollars to spare to purchase them, this is the closest thing we’ll get to seeing them.

Three major casting directors have agreed to offer audition tapes for sale, on the condition their identity won’t be made public. Darren Julien and Martin Nolan of Julien’s Auction House are in charge of the auction – and the video is of them on The Today Show advertising the sale.

But they hardly need to promote the tapes, considering the names on them: Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr., Keanu Reeves, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Connelly and Russell Crowe, are all shown auditioning for parts.

Some of them got the roles they read for (and even went on to win major awards with them, like Connelly, who won an Oscar), but others didn’t. Such is the life, even for celebrities.
