Movie buffs must know that no “respectable” Hollywood production uses the actual title of the film while it’s still in production. Instead, they’re given “codenames,” working titles that can be occasionally pretty hilarious.

Other times, they’re just keys to the actual title and project.

Some would say that this is one of the worst kept secrets in the industry, but everyone can agree that it’s the most sensible thing to do if you want to avoid fan pandemonium.

The gallery below, courtesy of Reddit, is of movie posters featuring not the final titles of the releases but their in-production working ones.

If you want to know how huge hits like “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Star Wars” or “Back to the Future” were called while still in production, this is your chance. Enjoy!
