Industrial Light and Magic offers extraordinary look behind the scenes of the blockbuster

Only Mark Ruffalo can say that he played The Hulk. The actor, who brought the green raging monster to life on the big screen in last year’s blockbuster hit “The Avengers,” shot all the scenes as The Hulk in motion capture.

In other words, while the character was created on the computer, it was done based on work Ruffalo actually did in front of the camera, it wasn’t all CGI.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work from the guys at Industrial Light and Magic.

Check out the video above to see how The Hulk was created and how, while we saw him leaping through the air or standing his ground in a ravaged New York, all that was really happening in front of the camera consisted of Ruffalo in a silly-looking costume and hat, in a tiny room filled with cameras and equipment.
