14 DAY TRIAL // While half of Batman fans are still lamenting the end of Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and the other half is upset that Warner Bros. chose to replace Christian Bale with Ben Affleck, a video has emerged to show one of the moments that set the wheels in motion for the biggest comic book-inspired film franchise ever.
You can see it below: it’s Christian Bale’s audition for the first Batman film from Nolan and, yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, he is wearing Val Kilmer’s suit.
Amy Adams offered a helping hand with the audition, which is interesting for her “Man of Steel” connection, that Nolan would produce years later.
The video is included in the extras on the new Blu-ray set.
Another, very interesting aspect is that, as the photo above will confirm, Cillian Murphy also auditioned for the role. Video of that isn’t available yet.
Fans know that Murphy didn’t get the part, but he still ended up in all three installments of the franchise as Scarecrow.
