Musix GNU+Linux 1.0 RC1 Released

A new version of a free software multimedia operating system has been released by the Musix project. The first released candidate of Musix 1.0, targets the audio and music section but also deals very well with the graphic design, 3D animation, video edition and so on. In the development of this release candidate were also involved, along with the Musix project, the Ututo Proyect, FSF, Ourproject and other collaborators who worked on the bugs correction and improving functionality. More than 190 software packages were upgraded in this version since 0.99 from Debian/Stable.

- Kernel Linux 2.6.21 RC6-rt0
- Xorg 7.1.0-16
- Beast 0.6.6-9
- fweelin-0.5.5
- Musixcontrol 0.8
- Jaminpresets 2.0
- Fluxbox's menu

The Musix 1.0 RC1 version also benefits from some new packages, compared to the 0.99 version, such as:

- driconf: configuration applet for the Direct Rendering Infrastructure
- Ardour 2.0 RC1: multichannel hard disk recorder (HDR) and digital audio workstation (DAW)
- sonic-visualiser: Visualisation and annotation program for music audio files
- abcmidi: converter from ABC to MIDI format and back
- amsynth: two oscillator software synthesizer
- Ardour-doc: Ardour documentation
- checkmp3: identifier for the MP3s that do not follow the MP3 format
- flac123: command-line flac player
- galan: modular audio processing and synthesis system
- gjay: automatic and learning DJ for xmms
- gnusound: multitrack sound editor for GNOME
- alsaplayer-gtk: PCM player designed for ALSA (GTK version)
- jaminpresets-2.0: presets for masterization with Jamin
- kmenuedit: menu editor for KDE
- xmms-midi:http://newadmin.news.softpedia.com/adm/news.php?cmd=add_news_form〈=en plugin that enables XMMS to play MIDI files through Timidity
- libfreebob0: FreeBoB: Linux driver for BeBoB devices

This edition has a Kernel Linux 2.6.21 RC7 installed, which will be in the final version, Musix 1.0, too, along with some improvements made according to the users' feedback on this first candidate.
