Mixing, playing the guitar, drums and base, or just using your voice to record that song you always wanted to? The Mac App Store has got you covered. The staff has curated a new selection of great apps suited to making music;.

There are no more than 23 apps that made it on the list, but that should be enough for most of you, even the professionals.

Talking about making music sounds great, and the first app that comes to mind is Apple's own Logic Pro X. For $199 (€148.69) you will get the best app with the most sophisticated interface for songwriting, editing, and mixing.

Do not feel overwhelmed by this app. It is, after all, a tool for professional musicians and record producers. Bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Nine Inch Nails, and artists like T-Pain are famously using this app for their records and live concerts. Even the producers of Coldplay or John Legend are fans of Logic Pro X.

This app will get you Music Production, Drum Production, Keyboards and Synths, Guitar and Bass Gear, over 1,500 instrument and effect Patches, and more than 800 sampled instruments.

Logic Pro X is not the only app from Apple that made it on the list. MainStage 3 is a must for musicians and their live shows producers while on the stage. This app works best in conjunction with Logic Pro and brings to the table a massive collection of plug-ins and sounds that are designed for the stage.

Feel like working with your friends and recording your first track? GarageBand has to be your first choice. The app comes on all macs as part of the iLife Suite and is the perfect choice for young musicians, recording artists on a budget, and podcasters alike.

But enough with Apple's awesome music apps and let's check the other ones in this selection. "djay for Mac" is already a household name in the industry. It takes the music in your iTunes library and helps you mix live. You are going to get high-quality scratching, echo, bit crusher and phaser effects, along features like Multiple Cue Points and a multi-touch trackpad control.

When it comes to voice recording for a podcast and other voice work, TapeDeck is the most interesting app for that purpose. The easy to use interface and straightforward buttons will help you record on the fly and store your audio samples the elegant way.

Check all these apps in the Mac App Store and go make some great music.
