PassAlong Mobile has announced that the Gracenote Mobile MusicID technology is now available for mobile phones. Gracenote Mobile MusicID
combines advanced audio stream recognition
technology with a huge music information database, to provide accurate song identification for users in more than 200 countries.
The Gracenote Global Media Database contains information on more than five million CDs and 60 million individual tracks. It also includes more than 10 million song fingerprints of the most popular music in the world, optimized for mobile devices.
"Song identification is crucial for both discovery and linking to enhanced services," said Kevin Gorman, GM of PassAlong Mobile. "Gracenote's technology and global database provides the best coverage for remote identification on
mobile devices anywhere in the world, enabling service providers to provide instant discovery, related content and purchase opportunities to their users."
PassAlong Mobile allows users to share music recommendations through its Passing-and-Points program. If a user buys a song after receiving a recommendation, he is eligible for discounts on future purchases. Other offerings from PassAlong Mobile include the Connect-to-Consumer transfer of protected
content from one device to another using WiFi, the wireless version of the OnTour concert finding application and Concert-of-the-Future initiative.
