The company just can't seem to match demand with supply

PCI Express solid-state drive cards are powerful and capacious, but they are also expensive, so no one really expects them to sell like candy, but Mushkin's Scorpion Deluxe is doing just that.

The product was released back in September, but managed to sell so fast that by the time the month ended, so had the available inventory.

Mushkin managed to restock this October, but now we've learned that the SSD just sold out again, in spite of its price of $1,999.99 / €1,999.99 (1,920 GB).

There are lower-capacity versions of course, from 240 GB upwards, but that is the strongest.

Speaking of capabilities, the Mushkin Scorpion Deluxe PCIe Solid-State Drive relies on four Sandforce SF-2281 controllers.

It can read data at 2,150 MB/s and write it at 1,900 MB/s. On that note, the read and write un-throttled IOPS (input-output operations per second) speed is of 100,000 4K.

"We're extremely excited to see how well-received the Scorpion Deluxe is. We felt very confident with the design and making of this product, and we're proud to share it with our consumer base," said Brian Flood, director of product development at Mushkin, Inc.

"The Scorpion Deluxe is representative of how Mushkin continues to strive to meet and exceed the expectations of our diverse and unique users."

The full Mushkin Scorpion Deluxe range is made up of 240GB, 480GB, 960GB, and 1920GB PCI Express cards. All of them ship (or will ship once supply is restored) with 3-year warranties, in various countries.

"The Scorpion Deluxe PCIe is a strong component that complements any system design, whether you are composing your own applications or generating visual effects, and so on. This is why one of our top priorities at the moment is to get more Scorpion Deluxe cards back into the marketplace." said Nicolas Villalobos, director of global marketing at Mushkin, Inc.
