Notebook coolers typically have a single fan as well as some token connectivity capabilities, usually a USB port and audio connectors.

Sometimes, however, a cooler appears that qualifies as more than a glorified means of putting distance between the laptop's underside and one's lap, or whatever surface the notebook happens to be placed on.

Indeed, the Multicore X8, as the latest product from Deepcool is called, has four different fans of 100 mm diameter each.

They can all work in tandem, or by pairs (2 upper fans on or 2 lower fans on). One can even turn them all off if they want to work in absolute silence.

This is the Multi-Core Control Technology that gives the newcomer its name.

The Multicore X8 has four aluminum panels with Vertical Airflow Design (pushes air into four different directions) and 2 USB ports.

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
