One day, the HATO notebook might save you

This is the first medical notebook ever (that I know of anyway). The statement alone sounds kind of corny especially if you have no relation with the medical and healthcare area but I guess that some will actually find this product to be pretty useful.

MSI Computer has just announced its latest notebook concept, the HATO (Heartbeat Audition Transceiver On-the-go) portable. But as I've said, this is no ordinary notebook since it packs some medical-related features that are quite useful when you need to monitor the health of a patient. And of course, the real power of this device comes from the fact that it integrates a detachable EKG (electrocardiogram) system. With the help of the integrated EKG one could monitor a hospital patient's heart rate and find out if it has any heart-related problems.

The medical gadget can be detached from the notebook. In this case the portable EKG will record and store heart rate data for later analysis. After the job is done, the EKG can be reattached to the notebook and the needed analysis can be made. The reports generated by the software can then be sent wirelessly to the hospital's server and even to the doctors if they need the results right away. The notebook can communicate thought an integrated Bluetooth adapted but it also supports 3G network for the data transfers.

We don't know what kind of hardware lies inside the notebook but MSI says that they are considering both AMD and INTEL platforms. Moreover, it's not clear if the notebook will be turned into an actual product since this model is a concept. MSI will probably make a research study before turning it into a mass release because the success of such an idea cannot be verified since no one has ever tried this before.
