Good news for arcade lovers. Namco announced today that the classic Ms. Pac-Man arcade game has become available for download on the iTunes Store. This is just for fifth-generation iPods, of course.

It is sold for the regular price of iPod games, $4.99. This can be considered a commemorative addition for the 25th anniversary of the release of the original arcade version of Ms. Pac-Man.

This iPod version of the classic arcade game now features four unique maze designs, 256 maze levels and the "coffee break" animated intervals from the original version.

You can choose between three different modes of play and one is especially suited for the iPod. While you play Ms. Pac-Man on your iPod, you can listen to the original sound of the game or you can choose to listen to music from your playlist.

With the addition of the classic Ms. Pac-Man, fifth generation iPod owners can now choose between 12 games, all available on the iTunes store for $4.99. Rumors these days spoke about Apple's intentions towards casual games. We might be seeing more such games for iPods, and perhaps for the iPhone as well. Those at Apple said the iPod games will not work on the iPhone, so they will probably develop specific versions.

Ms. Pac-Man, much like its predecessor, Pac-Man, was and still is one of the most successful arcade games ever designed and has set records in sales. I, for one, can't say I enjoy moving the ugly hag around the maze, but many find it addictive. If you're one of 'those' people and own a 5th generation iPod, Ms. Pac-Man will land on your iPod for as little as five bucks. Enjoy!
