An 'open letter' to Apple's CEO says 'it is high time that Apple offered discounts on new products' such as the upcoming 3G iPhone

Former Financial Times reporter Tom Foremski is asking Apple's CEO to consider this "first adopter network (FAN) program", a thing that, quite frankly, doesn't sound bad, nor far-fetched. As an iPhone owner, how would you like to get a free 3G iPhone when it is released? The man even set up this Facebook group: "Apple Should Reward Loyal Customers With FAN Discounts" for Apple fans, so pray to God Apple considers Foremski's "Open letter to Steve Jobs."

"Dear Mr. Jobs," Foremski's state-of-the-art open letter begins. "I've had my iPhone since day dot - the day it came out... I've had a Macintosh since year dot. I used one with a laser printer to layout and publish a newspaper in the Haight/Ashbury from 1987 to 1989. I've used PCs too but I've always had a Macintosh and in the past year I'm back on Mac so that I can do video editing," the man states, assuring Apple that he is expressing a relevant point of view in what concerns Apple products and the company.

"Loyal Apple customers have been your strongest evangelists," the open letter continues. "And they usually pay top dollar for Apple products when they first come out. Yet they also have to put up with lots of criticism from non-Apple users, being called zealots, fanboys, etc," Foremski points out. He goes on trying to hit a nerve in Cupertino by saying that "there are a lot of other fans of Apple products out there, and most of them are far more passionate about Apple than [he is]."

As such, Tom Foremski believes "It is high time that Apple recognized this demographic and offered discounts on new products, such as the coming G3 iPhone, for its most loyal customers first. Why should the Johnny-come-latelies get the discounts?" he explains.

As I'm sure all potential iPhone owners reading this are thinking how they can contribute to convince Apple to get the FAN program out, here's your first step to doing that. Don't forget to leave an impression with us too.
