MozyHome is a secure, automatic remote backup service for your Mac. Berkeley Data Systems assures that the utility is easy to install and configure. Mozy does not require an external hard drive, paid subscription services, CDs to burn and so on. All you need instead is a broadband connection. You instantly get two gigs of storage
space on Berkeley Data Systems servers, for the free version of the software, or you can pay $4.95 per month and get unlimited space.

Data is encrypted, as you can imagine, so you don't have to worry about someone nosing around in your files. Sounds like the most inexpensive insurance policy you'll find anywhere, doesn't it? Well, Mozy thinks so too: "Mac users, rejoice! The moment you've been waiting for is finally here. MozyHome for Mac is making its 1.0 debut as the first unlimited online backup service for the Mac. You didn't think we'd limit the Mozy goodness to Windows users only, did you?... Get started with MozyHome for Mac 1.0 today and protect your photos, music, documents, and more. It's the most inexpensive insurance policy you'll find anywhere."

As noted above, MozyHome does not require an external hard drive, subscription services, CDs or DVDs to burn. All you need is a broadband connection and you are ready to start your backup. The only drawback (and you probably guessed it already) is the upload speed, which is so-and-so.

The online backup service keeps a backup copy of your files in one of Mozy's data centers. If you lose your original files, you can get a copy of them from Mozy. Interested parties should note that Mozy is not a file sharing or archiving service, which means that other people would not be able to download your files.

However, MozyHome can also be like a double-edged blade: if you delete an original file on your computer, Mozy assumes that you no longer need a backup copy of it and will remove it from its servers after 30 days. Say you realize you've accidentally deleted a file after more than 30 days... Sure, it's a bit far fetched but so is experiencing a hard drive crash.

Mozy only uploads new files and the parts of an existing file that have changed. Click HERE to download MozyHome for Mac now.
