The developers of Firefox have created one more service that has high chances of becoming popular for many people. The "Joey" project looks to bring bits of the web to mobile phones with little effort.

With "Joey!", handset users are capable of taking selected text from web pages or even videos with little effort. The concept uses
the Mozilla Firefox application in order to make information access available at best performances. The great advantage that this project brings is that mobile phone users have the chance of easily transferring to their handsets all the interesting media that they find while surfing the web from their desktop.

Mobile browsing can do this by itself. Still, having to type in a specific address and then download data content can be a tedious process. This is where "Joey!" comes in to make things a great deal more simple. The solution works just as a link towards a specific address that is more useful than having to go through the entire process all over again.

The handset owner can use Firefox in order to send text clippings, pictures, videos, RSS content and Live Bookmarks to your phone through the Joey Server. He can later use the phone's browser or the Joey application for viewing and managing the uploads.

The application works quite easy. It first needs signing up for free through an easy process. After this, the user can download Joey for Firefox and start using it. For sending text from a web page viewed on the PC, the user has to select it, right click and choose "Joey Selected Text" for immediately sending it to the handset. The advantage is that the user does not have to load the entire page on their mobile browser in order to view information found in only a small text.

The same goes for uploading a video. In order to view it, the user has to enter the "joey.labs.mozilla.com" page from the mobile phone's browser, login and then enjoy their new files. Mozilla has no plans to productize Joey. In fact, they will work with the community to build a compelling and usable tool that people will enjoy using free of any charge.
