Almost two weeks after it released the Alpha 2, Mozilla Foundation took another step towards the final version of Firefox 2 by releasing Bon Echo Alpha 3.
As with the previous version, the open source browser's website warns that the release is only aimed at web application developers and testers, the bugs contained by the build preventing it from being suitable for the regular user.
Compared to the Alpha 2, the new version has fewer improvements, the most important being the built-in anti-phishing protection. Aside from this, the application
now includes Search suggestions that appear with search history in the search box for Google and Yahoo! and support for client-side session and persistent storage.
Bon Echo Alpha 2 included the following improvements:
-Links default to opening in new tabs, not new windows;
-Close buttons now appear on every tab, and the close behavior is slightly different;
-Inline spellchecking in text boxes;
-Automatic restoration of your browsing session if there is a crash;
-New search plugin manager for removing and re-ordering search engines;
-New search service that supports Sherlock and OpenSearch engines;
-Support for SVG text using svg:textPath.
