Mozilla announced recently that it has updated Firefox Home free application for iPhone and iPod touch to version 1.0.2. The new update brings a lot of new goodies, but the main feature seems to be localization for seven more languages.

Mozilla's Firefox Home is the free version of the well-known Firefox browser, which is included on devices that cannot embed the full version of the browser due to technically or policy issues.

Even though the Firefox Home application intends to provide users with as many parts of the Firefox experience as it can, you can expect it to lack lots of features that are only present in the full version.

Anyway, for those interested here is the main features added in the 1.0.2 version of the application:

Support connecting to a custom server; Don't log users out unnecessarily (better handle 401s, also makes migration possible for Fx Home users); Auto refresh data when you resume the app on iOS4 and above (don't be too aggressive); Add a client version in the app that might be useful for support and troubleshooting; Support both absolute and relative URLs in responses from server (speeds up user migration dramatically); Allow users to type in a URL from the search tab and visit that URL even if it is not in their; AwesomeBar search result. If it is neither a valid URL nor a term that matches AwesomeBar results, provide option to search for term via search engine (added Aug 3); Localize the app in following locales: Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Dutch; Support captive portals more effectively by prompting users to enter credentials required to connect to the internet (P2); Send localized instruction emails (P2).

Firefox Home also works on older devices, but it is recommended for iPhone 3G or 3GS smartphones.

Also, bear in mind that if you're using Firefox Home on an iPhone 3G, 1st or 2nd generation iPod touch device and have more than 2000 bookmarks, that may cause the app to run out of memory.
