Although most people have the latest Stable build of Mozilla Firefox running on their computers, there are a great deal of users who don’t mind using the buggier beta versions of the browser which usually contain an extra something, plus the chance to discover an issue and report it to the mother-ship.

If that’s you, then hop aboard the Firefox 30 Beta 4 train which removes some extra space at the bottom of single-item menus and in the bookmarks menu, allows access to file:// URIs from pref-whitelisted sites, and cleans up “some silly stuff” surrounding prefs in CAPS, according to Mozilla.

Other new changes include: example.net added to server-locations.txt, reset media queues in Android media seek, added INI file option to prevent requiring a reboot when there are files in use, proper conversion from appunits/layout device pixels to layer pixels for composition bounds calculation, and more.

The beta 30 branch focuses on support for GStreamer 1.0, Mac OS X command-E sets, the sidebar button for social networks, bookmarks and history, box-shadow and other visual overflow fixes, support for alpha options in canvas context options, etc.

As usual, brave testers can head on to the links below and grab the latest Firefox beta for their respective computer. The requirements have stayed in place for all supported platforms.

OS-wise, Firefox 30 requires Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.6, Mac OS X 10.7, Mac OS X 10.8, or Mac OS X 10.9, and Linux with NetworkManager 0.7 or higher, DBus 1.0 or higher, HAL 0.5.8 or higher, or GNOME 2.16 or higher.

The recommended hardware includes Pentium 4 or newer processor that supports SSE2, Macintosh computer with an Intel x86 processor, 512 MB of RAM and 200 MB hard drive space.

Customers who prefer a more stable experience can go for Firefox 29. Launched to mixed reviews about two weeks ago, the updated browser comes with a significant new customization mode that lets you personalize your experience to access the features you use the most; an easy way to access menu sits in the right hand corner of the browser’s UI, and there are new tabs for “an overall smoother look” that many customers don’t seem to care much for.
