Some time ago, the folks working at Mozilla announced that the famous Firefox producer wants to abandon the Thunderbird development but didn't mention what will happen with the application. Today, the company's officials finally decided to create a new organization that will be 100 percent focused on the software solution in order to ensure a bright future for Thunderbird. According to the announcement, Mozilla will donate $3 million to the organization which is supposed to get the Thunderbird power to another level. Obviously, this is good news for both Firefox and Thunderbird fans as the parent company will be able to remain focused on only one solution.

"The result is that Mozilla is launching a new effort to improve email and internet communications. We will increase our investment and focus on our current email client -- Thunderbird -- and on innovations in the email and communications areas. We are doing so by creating a new organization with this as its sole focus and committing resources to this organization," Mozilla CEO Mitchell Baker wrote on the Mozilla blog.

"The new organization doesn't have a name yet, so I'll call it MailCo here. MailCo will be part of the Mozilla Foundation and will serve the public benefit mission of the Mozilla Foundation. (Technically, it will be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation, just like the Mozilla Corporation.)"

Firefox captured the interest of the web user and it really needs a powerful company that would be able to remain 100 percent focused on it. Mozilla thinks the same and took the decision to abandon the development of Thunderbird, another famous product powered by the company which is now transferred to an organization that would strive to make the mail client more powerful than before.
