iTunes users are missing out on at least one important aspect when it comes to movies: subtitling. With
RoadMovie this problem seems solved, as is supports
SubRip (.srt), SubViewer 1 & 2 (.sub), and even
MicroDVD subtitles, sporting built-in presets for Apple TV, iPhone, iPod, PSP, Web and cellphone. Elgato's Turbo.264 hardware will help you push encoding to higher speeds.
Using RoadMovie videophiles can even create and manage their own custom encoder
presets and use Quicktime to
encode movies to their hearts' content. Rendering subtitles for iPod, iPhone and Apple TV was never easier, according to
bitfield. An example of a preview window is available to the left (click to enlarge).
Main features of RoadMovie include: subtitle support from SubRip (.srt), SubViewer 1 & 2 (.sub) and MicroDVD; batch encode (encoding a list of movies); batch upload (uploading encoded movies using FTP, SFTP, .Mac, WebDav or Amazon S3); Turbo.264 support for speedy encoding; built-in presets for Apple TV, Cellphone, iPhone, iPod, PSP and Web; automatically adds encoded movies to iTunes.
"Want your encoded movie to upload to your ftp server? Want your movie on you Amazon S3 account when done? No problem. Just create manage your own Destinations. RoadMovie supports File, FTP, SFTP, .Mac, WebDav and Amazon S3," says bitfield, that also lists
specific information on how to watch subtitled movies on your iPod, iPhone or Apple TV. A guide for syncing your subtitles to your movies is also available, via
Doom9.
Among other distinguishable features, RoadMovie uses the same subtitling engine as found in Submerge and allows users to create and manage their own customized set of upload Destinations, and even add iDisk as an upload Destination.
RoadMovie has been built for use with Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard). A demo is also available right
HERE. RoadMovie is now available for $19.95 (US) via bitfield.se.
