Gets a price to match its solid parts but sells only in Japan

Mouse Computer has just launched a product, a mobile personal computer, that could leave prospective buyers around the world wanting.

This is not through some price tag that is humongous beyond all reason, or due to underwhelming performance.

What may leave people jaded is how the Mouse Computer i950PA5-SP has only been launched in Japan, for now at least.

The machine relies on an Intel Core i7- 2960XM central processing unit (CPU) with four cores, each operating at 2.7 GHz.

Of course, any self-respecting high-end processor will have automatic overclocking and, sure enough, the Turbo Boost technology can drive the clock speed to 3.7 GHz when not all cores are needed.

For the graphics side, Mouse Computer chose the mighty NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M discrete graphics card.

With 2 GB of its own memory (GDDR5), it is bound to handle anything and everything thrown at it.

Speaking of memory, the CPU is assisted by up to 32 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory), which is monstrous even for desktops.

As for the storage, the outfit provides a pair of 120GB Intel 320 series SSDs (solid state drives) set up in RAID 0 (even TRIM should be supported).

Other features that make the list are a Blu-ray writer, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi (wireless LAN), various ports and plugs and, of course, the LCD (the screen size is 17.3 inches) with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD).

All in all, the Mouse Computer i950PA5-SP is a beast of a notebook that can easily replace desktops and, in the majority of cases, run everything better.

Knowing customers, it is easy to imagine the thing making an impression at LAN parties.

Japanese customers will have to fork up 299,880 yen, about the same as $3,850 and 2,845 Euro. Shipments will begin this week, apparently just before year's end (December 31, 2011).
