Jose Mourinho continues to back his Ukrainian striker, despite his poor run this season. Shevchenko only managed to score once in 6 Premiership matches and the Stanford Bridge fans are surely expecting more from the 45 million euros sign. Still, despite his bad form, the Portuguese coach assured Sheva that his place in the starting line-up will not be endangered in the near future.

"The goals will come. He knows I trust him. He doesn't have that pressure that the sword is waiting and if you don't score a
goal you are out of the team. He will score goals. He is such a top player in the world he has nothing to prove
", said Mourinho, according to Eurosport News.

He added: "If he is one, two or three months without scoring goals he is still one of the best strikers in the world". The Ukrainian failed to impress Chelsea's supporters this start of the season, his only goal coming on the away defeat (2-1) at Middlesbrough.

In the meantime, Didier Drogba was truly on fire, scoring on almost every Chelsea's game so far. The Ivorian, who wanted to leave the club earlier this summer, secured a starting position with Mourinho's side and is unlikely to let that go any time soon.

Returning to Sheva, his determination and performance in Chelsea's away win at Fulham (2-0) made the Portuguese include him in his side's "first 11" for the Champions League away, at Levski Sofia.

"I know strikers, they live for goals. Their happiness is more about scoring goals, but he gave me a big contribution at Fulham. In the second half, he had a big responsibility for the way we broke down the defensive strategy of Fulham. He knows he didn't score a goal but he plays on Wednesday, because I'm happy with the contribution he gave us", concluded Mourinho.

Chelsea will travel to Bulgaria to meet Levski Sofia on Wednesday, and will need to clinch their 2nd win of Group A in order to enter the Barcelona clashes on maximum points. The Catalans will travel to Germany for their Werder Bremen away.
