The next Burnout?

MotorStorm Pacific Rift has been launched and the developers are looking forward to a bit of a vacation, as a post on the PlayStation Blog shows. But before leaving, they provided fans of the fast paced racing game with pieces of information that will prove to be very important in the future.

It seems that Evolution Studios, while pretty much satisfied with the version of the game that shipped to players, are already thinking and working on some downloadable content which will enhance the experience that players are getting from MotorStorm. Apparently, the first pieces of DLC will arrive before Christmas and will be smaller and free. We bet there will be new cars or tracks making their way to fans first. The team is also hinting at bigger content coming early in 2009, this time with a fee attached. At the moment, the plan is to offer players something new every week.

Another racing title for the PlayStation 3, Burnout Paradise, is currently seen as the epitome of support. The developers have offered a huge amount of fresh stuff for the game, from racing modes to new cars. The most recent update has introduced bikes to the islands that feature in Burnout and there are plans to also put planes in the game. A very loyal player community has been created around the title and MotorStorm Pacific Rift will probably hope to offer the same level of support.

In addition to talking about DLC, it appears that the lead developer has also forbidden the people from Quality Assurance, who are already pretty familiar with the game, from playing for two weeks in order to give players a chance to get pretty good times on the online leader boards. He also showed fans what game development means by mentioning that during the development of MotorStorm, 1,454 pizzas were eaten together with 4,231 Chinese takeaways.
