I know that you are waiting for
PS3 Motorstorm to be released, but the game's developer, Evolution Studios, is l
ooking more towards the PlayStation 4.
Chief Executive Martin Kenwright believes that is important to look ahead and reveals in a GamesIndustry.biz interview that Motorstorm plans for the future. He says that the market place will be changing beyond recognition in the next five years.
Kenwright explains that people are looking at the PS3 right now, but as his company wants to stay ahead of the game, they are already thinking about the
PS4. Another subject he tackles is video game sequels. Kenwright says that sequels are the bane of the game industry. If one game is good, then gamers expect ten more like it. In his opinion, this is harming the marketplace irreparably.
Then, he complains that publishers are risk averse and don't want to collaborate with small video games developers. He adds that things are going to change and that the future will see a much more creative partnership between game developers and publishers.
Kenwright concluded by saying that people are waking up now to the fact that sequels are actually high risk rather than low risk. Frankly, I would have liked to find out more about Motorstorm from this interview and not some developer's mumbo-jumbo.
